10. Jed Whedon Says Dr. Horrible 2 Will Exist

It's hard to believe that it's been six years since Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog was released. Joss Whedon's three-part superhero musical debuted online to rave reviews and was seen by over 50 million people. It's found a large cult following (much like the rest of Whedon's filmography), and talk of a sequel has been happening since its debut. But, like with a lot of Whedon projects, nothing much has come of it. Joss's brother Jed Whedon (who co-wrote the project) recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly, and promised fans that the show will happen eventually, it's just a matter of scheduling.
"We know we have spoken publicly about a sequel in the near distance and our passion to create it, and I promise we have not been insincere. Horrible is still one of our favorite creations by humans who were also us. We have many songs written and the plot outlined, but needless to say, we've been busy. Joss has had a hectic couple of years and is in the middle of the busiest year of his life, as is Zack and as are we. Also the actors have other things they're acting in, I think. So the future is uncertain, our passion remains. DH2 will exist, in some format or another, at some point in the future. Unfortunately, the when is still unclear."
Hm... that sounds familiar... Oh yeah, that's what they said about Firefly! The Whedons and those they work with have a tendency to get extremely busy. Which is good, but it makes it a bit inconvenient for fans of their completed or cancelled shows that we'd like to see return. Joss is busy with Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jed and his wife Maurissa Tancharoen are currently showrunners on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Zack Whedon (who wrote the music) is currently working on The Red Hood series for Sundance, and the stars are all busy with various TV and film commitments. Luckily, Dr. Horrible is something that would be easier to pull off than a Firefly reunion, so maybe there's a chance it'll get made soon.
