10 Biggest Movie And TV News This Week (Feb 22)

9. Anchorman 2 Getting R-Rated Re-release With Over 700 New Jokes

Fans of Ron Burgundy got quite the treat last winter when Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues hit theaters. It may have gotten mixed reviews and didn't make as much money as the studio probably wanted, but it was funny enough, and now you have a chance to see it again, only this time it'll be R rated and will have entirely new jokes (753, in fact). The new cut of the film will be released on Feb. 28 in 1,000 theaters for one week only, and according to director Adam McKay about 95% of the film has been scrapped and replaced with newer, raunchier content, creating "a stitched up, Frankenstein version. You'll either love it or hate it." According to Will Ferrell, the original cut of the film was nearly four hours long and they considered splitting it into two films. "But that didn't really work so we just had a second editor working the whole time with alternative jokes. It's the same movie, it's 20 minutes longer, there's a musical number we had to cut from the original one, little treats like that." Now they just have to convince audiences to spend money on another movie ticket, which at this point may be easier said than done.
