8. Kal Penn Will Star In Vince Gilligan's Battle Creek

House All eyes are on Breaking Bad creator/showrunner Vince Gilligan, who needs to somehow meet the high bar he set with his previous game-changing series. Sure, he's got Better Call Saul, a Breaking Bad prequel, in the works, but we're still on the fence about what to expect from that show. In addition to that, he's also working on a show called Battle Creek over at CBS, a detective story that sounds more up his alley. The show follows "a detective and an FBI agent with two extremely different approaches to criminal justice who are paired together to clean up the streets of Battle Creek, Michigan." Earlier this week Deadline announced that Harold and Kumar star Kal Penn (who's probably sick of being called a Harold and Kumar star) has been cast, though not as one of the two leads. Instead he'll play a local detective who isn't thrilled to have the FBI in town. Sony TV has already ordered 13 episodes of Battle Creek for the 2014-2015 season, so we should expect to start hearing names for the other roles soon as well.
