4. WarGames Reboot Moving Forward

United ArtistsUnited ArtistsWarGames is the latest beloved 1980s film to get the reboot treatment. MGM has reportedly signed Project Almanac director Dean Israelite to helm the film, with Grace of Monoco scribe Arash Amel on scripting duties. The original WarGames starred Matthew Broderick as a kid who hacked into a military supercomputer and mistook it for a video game. Before long, the "games" begin to lead to a national nuclear missile scare and brings the world on the brink of World War III. According to TheWrap, The Fault In Our Stars' Ansel Elgort and Mud star Tye Sheridan are on the shortlist to play the lead. The film will, of course, take the plot of the original and contemporize it a bit, and shift the focus to "a teenage hacker who unwittingly sets off a virus on destorying the world's computer systems."
