10 Biggest Movie And TV News This Week (May 24)

1. Edgar Wright Leaves Ant-Man

Ant Man Edgar Wright As exciting as this week has been for movie and TV news, the week ended in a pretty depressing bombshell: Edgar Wright will no longer be directing Marvel's Ant-Man. The studio announced Friday afternoon that he had left the film due to creative differences.
€œMarvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on ANT-MAN due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.€
Needless to say, this is a massive blow to fans, who have been pretty vocal about their disappointment across social networks. Wright's been working on Ant-Man since 2006, long before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was even a thing. He's perhaps best known for his Cornetto Trilogy, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End; as well as the comic book adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World; and was guaranteed to bring something truly special to this little-known property. This isn't the first time Marvel has parted ways with a director for similar reasons, which we last saw when Patty Jenkins was fired from director Thor: The Dark World. What this means for the final film remains unclear, though the fact that it won't be delayed means that the studio isn't worried about its prospects or getting someone new to bring it to life. That's it for this week, folks! Tell us, what did you think of these stories? Are you upset that Edgar Wright won't be making Ant-Man? How about Gareth Edwards' new Star Wars gig, or the official Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice title? Sound off in the comments below, and be sure to follow me on Twitter for more news as it develops throughout the week!
