7. A Neil Armstrong Biopic Is In The Works

Neil Armstrong 58642 A Neil Armstrong biopic titled First Man has been bouncing around Hollywood for over ten years, and it looks like it may finally be settling down and heading to the big screen. A previous attempt to make the film was made by Warner Bros. (who tapped Clint Eastwood to direct and produce), but now it looks like Universal has nabbed the high-profile project, and are looking at Whiplash director Damien Chazelle to bring it to life. The film is being written by The Fifth Estate scribe Josh Singer and will be based on James Hansen's book First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong, which was written with the help and cooperation of Armstrong's family and NASA. If Chazelle signs on, it may be some time before we see First Man hit the big screen, as the director is currently prepping his next project, La La Land, a musical for Lionsgate that reunites him with his Whiplash star Miles Teller.
