8. Jennifer Lawrence Falls Over
The fear of public embarrassment is a near universal one, something that can rile up the most steel-nerved person under the right circumstances. Imagine attending the most prestigious and widely covered film awards ceremony on the planet, dressed to the nines in your most expensive finery, and poised to collect an award for superb acting, only to then fall over on the runway.
That’s exactly what happened to Jennifer Lawrence in 2013, as she collected her Best Actress gong for Silver Linings Playbook. As a booming voice declared that this was J-Law’s first win and second nomination in the category, the actress caught a leg in her Dior dress whilst climbing the stage steps. Ever the consistent performer, Lawrence would go on to repeat the fall a year later, this time on the red carpet at the 2014 ceremony.
When asked about the initial fall, Lawrence was predictably blunt: “What do you think happened? Look at this dress. I tried to walk upstairs in this dress, that’s what happened.”
