10 Biggest Oscar Goofs Of All Time

John Travolta has had a tough time with the Academy Awards of late, having thoroughly cemented himself as the ceremony’s resident awkward uncle figure.

In 2015, a series of photographs emerged depicting Travolta uncomfortably straddling Scarlett Johansson, looming in for a peck on the cheek while the actress stared blankly into the distance. Johansson dismissed the photos and chalked them up to bad timing, but Travolta would then follow the photos up with a call-back to his most memorable Oscar flub the previous year.

While introducing Idina Menzel at the 2014 Academy Awards, Travolta mispronounced her name as ‘the wickedly talented Adele Dazeem’, a gaffe he blamed on Goldie Hawn, who ‘distracted him backstage’, as well as the difficult phonetic spelling of Idina’s name.

The two reunited a year later to address the blunder on stage, at which point the skit turned into another misadventure for John’s wandering hands, as he proceeded to touch and caress Menzel’s face whilst cooing: ‘My darling, my beautiful, my wickedly talented Idina Menzel’.
