10 Biggest Similarities Between Guardians Of The Galaxy And Star Wars

7. Superweapons

If there's one major commonality these two universes share, it's the desire of the bad guys to wield unimaginable super weapons. In the original Star Wars trilogy, the Empire had its ultimate weapon of destruction, the Death Star - a moon sized space station capable of destroying a planet with a single blast. Although smaller in physical size, it's clear that the Infinity Stone in Guardians Of The Galaxy is meant to replicate this level of universal dread. Much like the Empire pressed on in an attempt to build a bigger, more powerful Death Star in Return Of The Jedi, the ultimate introduction of the Infinity Gauntlet will be a similar revelation in the MCU films to come. At this point, both franchises seem to be equally aligned with incorruptible heroes battling against insurmountable odds to not only save the galaxy, but those they fight beside. It has to be assumed that with each introduction into the Guardians film catalog moving forward, they will face a bigger and more maniacal foe. Will fans see another Infinity Stone come to the forefront in Guardians 2 or will the band of heroes be facing a new impediment?
