6. What If First Contact Was With The Andorians Instead Of The Vulcans?

One of the most celebrated and important dates in human history is the day of First Contact. That was the moment humanity realized it wasn't alone in the universe, and it set the world on the path of reconstruction to engage in galactic participation.

Star Trek: First Contact detailed this rather nicely with the Enterprise traveling back in time to ensure the Borg weren't successful in screwing the whole thing up. Fortunately, they succeeded, and First Contact went by without a hitch when a nearby Vulcan ship noticed the warp signature coming from Earth

Things would have been far different had the Andorians made First Contact instead of the Vulcans. The Andorians are a race of people who occupy the space that borders Vulcan territory, and the two sides have fought a Cold War for a long time.

Andoria would take advantage of humanity's long history with warfare, and its people would have molded Earth to become a militaristic puppet. In many ways, the people of Earth would naturally become as militaristic and antagonistic as they are in the Mirror Universe.

At first, the Andorians would use humanity to conquer those peace-loving hippie Vulcans, but it would ultimately backfire. Once humanity is given the keys to conquering their celestial neighbors, they won't stop at Vulcan. Within a few decades, Andoria would belong to Earth, and by the time of ST:TNG, the Romulan and Klingon Empire would have fallen as well.
