3. What If Shinzon Killed Picard In Star Trek: Nemesis?

In Star Trek: Nemesis, Picard comes face to face with a clone of himself. The clone was created by the Romulans, who made a copy for a program intent on replacing Starfleet officers. When that project was scrapped, the clone ended up spending time on the harsh moon of Remus as slave labor.

Eventually, he kills the ruling body of Romulus and takes over the government as Praetor Shinzon. His plot was to lure his progenitor to Romulan space under the false pretense of creating a peace treaty with the Federation. In reality, he needed an infusion of his blood to thwart his hyper aging. Ultimately, he wanted to use a weapon that created thalaron radiation to eradicate all life on Earth.

Picard and Data defeated Shinzon in the movie, but what if Picard was killed? If Data survived and Picard had sacrificed himself as he planned, Shinzon's plan would still have been foiled. Data would return to the Enterprise, and he would continue his career as second in command to Captain Riker.

Eventually, "Star Trek: Data" would get the greenlight, and Data would become a central figure in the creation of more androids. The Mars colony wouldn't have been destroyed, effectively saving the majority of Romulans. Eventually, he would have found Altan Inigo Soong, and the two would have worked together to create a new race of synths with the help and permission of Starfleet.
