10 Biggest Ways The DCEU Has Changed From Original Plans
2. The Zack Snyder Era Is Over
Any cinematic universe that looks to have any sort of longevity about it needs to have a singular approach to their movies for the pieces to fit together, and for a while it looked like Zack Snyder would be that man for the DCEU.
Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League all took a similar visual and narrative approach, establishing the in-house aesthetic for the franchise in the process. And yet, almost as soon as he was out of the picture it seemed as though Warner Bros. couldn't wait to right the ship and make a fresh start.
Looking at the DCEU's post-Snyder lineup, you can already see a huge amount of what he brought to the early days of the franchise being jettisoned completely. Ben Affleck's Batman and his associated supporting cast are gone, Henry Cavill's Superman looks set to suffer a similar fate, while his Justice League seems unlikely to be acknowledged at all during the next wave of films.
Darkseid, the Mother Boxes, Lex Luthor, Deathstroke, Cyborg, Iris West, The Atom, Martian Manhunter, the Green Lantern Corps and more were all at least hinted at, if not filmed and then left on the cutting room floor. It looks as though nothing from Snyder's time at the helm is canon anymore, as the studio pushes forward with an entirely new approach to their superhero output.
