10 Bizarre Events That Took Place In First Drafts Of Famous Movies

2. Seven - David Dies

The ending of Seven must be one of the most iconic endings in the history of cinema, right alongside "I'm your father" and "Where we're going we don't need...roads." But the end was just one part on what would become one of the greatest mystery movies of all time. It was unpredictable, and the situations that the characters go through in the movie will leave their mark in our memory. But, like I've said many times in the course of this article: there are many changes from the original script to the end result, and in Seven's case, the change happened in the end of the movie. It's very hard to imagine this movie with a different ending, however the script had a very different ending to the story. And truth be told, it was a great ending. In it, they're doing a raid to catch John Doe, but things go wrong when he shots David in the chest. He was wearing his bullet proof vest though, however Doe uses him as a hostage, threatening Somerset to burn him alive. After an exchange with Somerset and Doe, David releases himself and charges against John Doe, only to get shot and killed. What follows is that Somerset proceeds to torture John Doe by shooting him in both arms and legs, and then letting him to be burned alive. How much it would have changed the film? While some people might feel that the ending the film ended up having was a good ending, I believe this one is a much more thrilling one. Throughout the movie we see Somerset as this calm guy, whose never done anything bad towards anyone, and to see him openly torturing and ultimately killing someone could have been quite a shock for the audience. Maybe even bigger one that the head in the box. But that's not enough, this ending would have given a sad ending to Pitt's character as well. Granted in the film's original ending the shock of something like that would have been something worse than death, but dying when he least expected it, and being so close to actually capturing the guy should have been something really tough for him. Well, at least in his last seconds alive.
