10 Bizarre Events That Took Place In First Drafts Of Famous Movies

3. Back to the Future - Marty Erases Rock & Roll And The 80s Became The 50s Vision Of The Future

bttf2 You would think that Back to the Future wouldn't have changed too much from the original script to the completed movie, after all, the story of a time traveler trying to fix the problems that he caused should be something easy to write. However, you would be very surprised to see how different the original script was from the completed movie. They didn't changed a few things, they pretty much had to rewrite the whole thing. The script wasn't the light-hearted movie we all know and love, it was a cynical take on the story. For example, Doc Brown was a depressing character, who got tired of years and years of failure in his life; he an Marty also run a video bootleg operation, selling videos to kids in Marty's school. And in the end the one thing that makes the time machine work again was Coca-Cola. But that's not it. At the end of the movie we find out that after Marty comes back to the "present" it's not like the present he grew up in. Instead it looked more like the comic book version of how the 40's and 50's thought the 80's was going to be. Y'know, aero-car, automatic pen, futuristic-looking vehicles. But not only that, Doc Brown became a famous inventor who created most of the things everyone uses at the time. The downside? Apparently Marty's presentation made everyone feel like Rock music was something bad, and as a result the whole genre was erased from existence. How much it would have changed the film? I think the better question would be what things it wouldn't have changed from the film. The whole thing is so drastically different that you would swear it's a script for a different movie. I mean, if the characters remained a little bit the same would be kind of recognizable, but no. The only way we know it's Back to the Future it's because of the title and the name of the author. This would have changed the film for bad, I'm sure it wouldn't be as recognizable and loved as it is now. You have no idea on how glad I'm that the script was changed like that in the end. Now let's pretend that the original script never happened, ok?
