9. Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Ferris Steals From His Father
Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of the most iconic films from the 80's, in it, we follow the adventures of young Ferris Bueller and his friends Cameron and Sloane. Through the course of the day the eat in a very fancy restaurant, they go to a museum, a baseball game, assist a parade in the middle of the city, they have a wonderful time. And while in the film we know that Ferris is a very popular character who has the world on his feet, for the things he does and the places he goes there's no way he could have enough money to do everything he did on the film. We all have skipped classes at some point, and at best, we managed to get to the theaters and watch a movie. But not everything he did. This problem was issued in the first draft of the script. In it, Ferris has a phone talk with his dad who called him to check if he felt ok (in the movie he pretended to be sick to skip class) and while he's on the phone with him, he manages to make his dad tell him where he hides his saving bonds, so that he could have money to go on his trip with his friends. Not only that, he was smoking a cigar while doing it, y'know, just in case you didn't thought he was an asshole. How much it would have changed the film? Well, in the eyes of those who hated Ferris from the first scene, not too much. But for the rest of the people who liked him and felt he was kind of a cool guy, this turned him into an abusive jerk, who got everything he wanted through manipulation. It made the rest of the movie look like he was taking advantage of his friends. But, believe it or not, he actually redeems himself in the script in a small exchange that was very different from the one we say in the movie
