10 Bizarre Events That Took Place In First Drafts Of Famous Movies

8. Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Why Ferris Tries To Help Cameron

00346 In the movie, we meet Cameron, an introverted guy whose always stressed about school and doesn't have the time to enjoy life. Ferris explains to the audience that the whole thing was just to help Cameron to relax, to make him enjoy life and for him to become a better person so that he doesn't looses it when he goes to college. And sure, in the movie it looks like Ferries tries to help him, he organized the parade to dance for him, he helps him when he gets shocked by something that happened to the car, and even offered himself to pay for the damage to the car Cameron's father owned. But, then again his father's car wouldn't have had an accident if Ferris just left the car alone and didn't insisted to use it for his trip. There were many questions about him, and why he insisted too much on helping him. However his motives are, again, explained in the script. In it, Ferris talks about a guy he used to met called Garth Volbeck. He explains that he came from a troubled family and that he was the only one who cared about him, only to see him dropping out of High School and getting into trouble. You may remember him from the movie, played by Charlie Sheen. How much it would have changed the film? It would have explained Ferris's motives for one thing. He cared too much about Cameron and didn't wanted to see him take the same path Garth took, so he orchestrated everything that happened during the day in order to prevent him from ending like Garth did. It really makes Ferris a much more likable character that he already was. It showed that he was willing to do anything for those around him, even if he looks kinda douchey while doing it.
