10 Bizarre Horror Movie Choices (& Why They Happened)

6. The Disappearing Corpses - Resident Evil

Paul W.S. Anderson's divisive-but-actually-pretty-good original adaptation of the Resident Evil games features a memorable mid-film sequence where most of the crack commando unit sent to shut down Umbrella's rogue AI are sliced into meaty chunks by a laser defense system.

It's made abundantly clear that the aftermath leaves quite the nasty mess, yet when Alice (Milla Jovovich) and the other surviving heroes return to this area later, the corpses of the dead soldiers have vanished, and there's not even a single drop of blood to be seen.

Fellow survivor Kaplan (Martin Crewes) even vocally points this out, assuring the audience that it wasn't a mistake on Anderson's part. As for why he'd include something so peculiar in the story? This was actually a reference to the video games, where if players kill a zombie and return to the room later in the game, the corpse will have disappeared for technical reasons.

Within the context of the movie, it's incredibly strange, especially for those who've never played the games, but for long-time fans of the series, it's quite the amusingly bizarre wink-nudge moment.
