10 Blockbuster Films You Won't Believe Are Turning 20 Years Old

8. Signs

M. Night Shyamalan's cult movies have graced our screens for 30 years, with movies like Split and Glass making waves in recent years, but Signs remains arguably one of the iconic director's finest hours... Okay, 206 minutes.

With its star-studded cast including Mel Gibson, Joaquin Phoenix, Rory Culkin and Abigail Breslin, Signs is a tight alien invasion horror still fondly remember today.

The sci-fi thriller is typical of Shyamalan's work, building suspense and creating apprehension - while being more about the journey than the destination. Meanwhile, the soundtrack was heralded critically, too, with James Newton Howard providing the score having worked with Shyamalan on The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable.

If you're familiar with the work of M. Night Shyamalan, you know what to expect from Signs - although if you're familiar with the work of M. Night Shyamalan, you've probably already watched this pretty brilliant piece of cinema.

Signs grossed over $60 million in its opening weekend, and had the second-highest August opening weekend behind Rush Hour 2, going on to earn over $400 million worldwide. Signs is M Night Shyamalan's second most successful movie at box office, behind only The Sixth Sense, but surprisingly ahead of Split!

Despite having an August opening weekend, Signs was released on July 30th and thus turns 20 years old this summer - but really hasn't aged one bit thanks to the brilliance of Shyamalan's filmmaking.
