10 Blockbuster Leading Men So Boring They Almost Put Us To Sleep

1. Sam Worthington

Boring Blockbusters: Terminator Salvation (2009), Avatar (2009), Clash of the Titans (2010), Wrath of the Titans (2012) Sam Worthington seemingly came out of nowhere in 2009 and ended up with his name above the poster of Terminator Salvation alongside Christian Bale, in what was his first major Hollywood feature. Suddenly pegged as 'the next big thing' in Hollywood, he starred in three studio blockbusters in a row that grossed over $3.5bn at the box office. However, things cooled down considerably when people began to realise his obvious limitations as an actor. In Terminator Salvation, Worthington's performance was suitably robotic for a man unaware he was a cyborg, but its debatable as to whether that was by accident or design. More questionable was his wayward accent, which veered almost uncontrollably from American to his native Australian and back again. Several months later came James Cameron's game-changing Avatar (which had actually been shot months before the Terminator reboot), in which the actor delivers another monotonous performance utterly devoid of personality until he gets to be big and blue. In Clash of the Titans, Worthington's Perseus is an incredibly dull hero, devoid of any warmth or charisma. So much so that the actor even described his own performance in the movie as bland. Which makes it all the stranger that he does the exact same thing in the sequel, resulting in yet another one-note, emotionless performance. In the last few years the actor has shied away from taking starring roles in any more big-budget blockbusters, which is probably for the best. Although he bears the chiseled looks of a Hollywood leading man, the actor is too generic and uninteresting a screen presence to convince as one.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
