10 Blockbuster Leading Men So Boring They Almost Put Us To Sleep

2. Hayden Christensen

Boring Blockbusters: Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005), Jumper (2008) If you thought Jake Lloyd was awful as Anakin Skywalker (and he was), at least audiences only had to put up with him for one movie. Inheriting the role for the sequels, Hayden Christensen makes the cardinal sin of turning the young Jedi who becomes Darth Vader into an unforgivably dull spoiled brat whose affections for Natalie Portman's Padme can occasionally come across as downright creepy. Granted, George Lucas' terrible dialogue doesn't do any of the cast a favour but Christensen's acting in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith is so wooden it makes Jaden Smith look like Jack Nicholson by comparison. With stilted line readings more suited to a bad soap opera than a blockbuster franchise, Christensen seems unable to emote convincingly and his chemistry with Natalie Portman is virtually non-existent. Given a chance to prove himself in a blockbuster outside of a galaxy far, far away, Christensen took the lead in Doug Liman's $85m Jumper and yet again failed to convince. Once again displaying a startling lack of charisma for a leading man, the movie botches the potential of the premise thanks to some ropey acting and a realised narrative. Hayden Christensen has shown he is capable of delivering a decent performance on occasion, but the evidence is there to definitively prove he can't deliver one in a studio blockbuster.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
