Plot: The film charts the rise of Policeman's son Joe Coughlin and his rise from low level criminal to one of the city's most fearsome mobsters in 1920's Boston in this adaptation of Dennis Lehane's violent and multi layered crime saga celebrating a bygone era when sin and vice were national virtues.
What To Expect: Public Enemies meets The Departed Hollywood and Dennis Lehane seem to make compatible bedfellows with previous Lehane novels Gone Baby Gone, Mystic River and Shutter Island all reaching the screen with the authors blessing and the audiences appreciation. Live By Night is arguably his most epic story to date and with Oscar winning Bostonian Affleck in front and behind the camera this period-set gangster film looks to have all the ingredients to make it a classic addition to the gangster genre.
