10 Blockbusters From 2017 That Should Win Oscars (But Won't)
10. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 (Best Makeup & Hairstyling)
Why It Should Win: It's hard to over-estimate the complexity and extensiveness of the make-up and hair work that went into bringing this movie's array of colourful characters to life.
From the relative simplicity of Gamora's green makeup job to the more demanding work on Nebula, the Ravagers and the Sovereign people, it was clearly a tremendous undertaking, one that successfully created a diverse diaspora of weird and wonderful faces.
Why It Won't: The first film was nominated in this category back in 2015 and ended up losing out to The Grand Budapest Hotel, and though this field does tend to favour blockbusters, it seems likely that It or Star Wars: The Last Jedi could end up stealing its slot this time.
Though Suicide Squad winning the most recent Makeup & Hairstyling Oscar really proves that anything can happen, voters might feel that Vol. 2 was simply repeating too much of the first movie's work without significant enough innovation.
