10 Bold Oscar Predictions For 2017

1. The Angry Birds Movie €“ Best Animated Feature

This one really is a bold prediction, but hear me out for a second and you might begin to believe in its possibility. The last time a non-Disney animation won Best Animated Feature was Gore Verbinski's Rango, way back in 2011. Whether or not Disney will win in 2015 remains to be seen, but with Inside Out nominated, it's practically a certainty. So what gives The Angry Birds Movie a shot? For a start, it's being directed by someone responsible for the success of some of Disney's biggest films. Clay Kaytis worked as an animator on Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, Tangled, Tarzan, Mulan...and that's just to name a few. Kaytis clearly knows how a fantastic animated film is made, and the writer, Jon Vitti, has worked on some hilarious TV shows over the years, including The Simpsons (way back in the 90s), The Office and SNL (during the 80s). Couple that talent with an amazing voice cast consisting of the likes of Peter Dinklage, Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader and Tony Hale, and things are a lot more promising than the words €œAngry Birds€ might otherwise suggest. Besides, the Oscars are undeniably influenced by external factors €“ it's about time they gave the award to someone other than Disney, lest they risk accusations of pandering. Which other upcoming films do you think will win big at next year's Oscars? Share your picks below in the comments thread.
