10 Bold Predictions About 2018’s Biggest Movies

3. Halloween 2018: Laurie Strode Will Kill Michael Myers

Danny McBride and David Gordon Green might sound like unlikely candidates to handle the next Halloween sequel, but it looks like they're going the right way about reviving Michael Myers for his 40th anniversary.

Not only has the duo got series mastermind John Carpenter on board, they're taking the masked serial killer back to his roots, depicting him as a watchful force of nature, rather than an invincible killing machine.

Halloween 2018 (or whatever it ends up being called) also promises to bring the franchise to a rounded conclusion, and this time it sounds like they mean it. The most logical ending is to have Jamie Lee Curtis's Laurie Strode put an end to Myers once and for all, without the possibility of resurrection or switcheroos with hapless paramedics (how ridiculous was it when they did that?).

As for how this will play out, wouldn't it be great if Laurie shot her brother six times and forced him off that same balcony the late Donald Pleasence tipped him over four decades ago? This would be a great call-back to the 1978 original, but there should be a key difference.

When Laurie peers over the edge of the balcony, instead of seeing an empty patch of lawn, Myers's body should be there, motionless and 100% dead, never to return in a future sequel, reboot or remake.
