6. Flashpoint Will Reboot Batman

Ben Affleck heading for the DC Extended Universe exit is looking more inevitable by the day, and reports that The Batman director Matt Reeves wants a different actor in the role have done nothing to dispel the rumours.

Warner Bros has several options when it comes to recasting the role, and perhaps the most viable is using the Flashpoint movie as a soft reboot switch.

In the comic arc of the same name, The Flash's time-hopping antics result in the creation of a dystopian DC Universe where the Amazons are at war with the Atlanteans. The fallout from the event sees three timelines merge, dramatically altering the status quo, and having this play out on screen would allow Warner to introduce a new Batman, and any other heroes they need to recast, organically.

It's unclear whether the new Caped Crusader will be Jake Gyllenhaal, as per recent rumours, but presumably it will be a younger actor with longevity on his side.
