10 Bold Predictions About The Post-Justice League DCEU
5. Zack Snyder Won't Direct Any More DCEU Films
Zack Snyder is a divisive figure among DC fans, with every franchise instalment he's directed splitting the audience down the middle, and faring worse with critics.
After the tonal misfires of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, it's clear Warner Bros has been gradually retreating from his vision for the DCEU and the dark, gritty superhero deconstruction that was central to it.
This culminated in Joss Whedon heading up extensive Justice League reshoots when a family tragedy forced Snyder off the project late in the game, and the tonal alterations and cuts the Avengers director brought with him resulted in a generic, by-numbers superhero flick that was robbed of its identity.
It's unclear exactly who was to blame for the way Justice League turned out, but don't expect Warner to hand the directorial baton to Snyder again. Although they're likely to find backseat producer roles for him going forward, his work has proven too polarising to justify giving him full creative control again.
There are a number of talented filmmakers currently working within the DCEU, including Whedon, Matt Reeves and Patty Jenkins, so it would make sense to make one of them the universe steward going forward.
