10 Bonkers Harry Potter Theories That Surely Can't Be True
3. Snape Is Harry's Real Father
He loved Lily: we've established that. He hated James: we all know that too. But Severus was bullied by the perfect James Potter, and made to be the laughing stock of their friend group. So why would Lily still love this man? This guy was a bully, and as we saw from Snape's flashbacks, he got on so well with her. What if she loved Snape too, and that Harry was actually Snape's son? Would it not explain why Lily was the one that gave her life to protect the boy, and not James? Why it's probably not true Fans of this theory always miss one blatant fact: throughout the franchise, Harry is always told he looks just like his father, but with his mother's eyes. It's unlikely Snape can administer polyjuice potion to Harry to make him look like James, and let's face it, he certainly wouldn't have that much of his hair to keep using. James bullied Snape, but likewise, Snape hated him back. James saved Snape's life from one of Lupin's transformations, risking his own, but Snape never risked his life when Voldemort came to kill the Potters: he was only worried about Lily. And James defended his wife and child as a first line of defence: Lily was there holding the baby, powerless. It wasn't that James didn't care, he was just the more powerful wizard.
