A $110 million historical buddy comedy from the director of The Waterboy starring Jackie Chan and Steve Coogan, what could possibly go wrong? Pretty much everything, it turns out.

All over the place tonally, miscast, derivative and boring as hell, Around the World in 80 Days maintains a relentless pace for its 120 minutes but nothing important really ever happens. It's just the premise of the novel stitching together a series of tired sketches, and not much else.

The ill-conceived project seemed doomed from the start, and a status as one of the biggest flops in cinema history was quickly assured. The movie could only open in ninth place at the domestic box office with just $7.5 million despite playing in over 2800 theaters, and ultimately earned just $72.2 million worldwide.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
