10 Brilliant Moments In Terrible Recent Films
4. The Calvary Arrives - Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker
Throughout the hit-and-miss Star Wars sequel trilogy there have been a number of attempts to recreate that same feeling most fans felt when they first laid eyes on the galaxy far, far away.
The return of Han Solo and Chewbacca on the Millennium Falcon, Obi Wan Kenobi calling out to Rey in a force vision and Master Yoda popping up to teach Luke Skywalker a lesson are just a few examples of this.
The Rise of Skywalker definitely doubled down on these nostalgic moments, but that still couldn't save it from ultimately being a massively underwhelming conclusion to a saga 40+ years in the making.
Bringing back Emperor Palpatine felt like a piece of far-fetched fan fiction come to life and a detour to a half destroyed Death Star was clearly a desperate attempt to lace some of the original trilogy's magic into this soulless ending.
Thankfully, there was one moment of pure nostalgic joy in the film's final battle which genuinely worked a treat. As Poe Dameron's Resistance fleet look all but done for, General Lando Calrissian arrives to save the day with a grand squad of ships from all across the galaxy.
Lando's signature chuckle combined with the sensational original Star Wars theme makes for one of the most satisfying moments in all of this frustratingly inconsistent series.
