10 Brilliant TV Actors Who Have Failed At Becoming Movie Stars
5. Aaron Paul
311317Aaron Paul's career largely consisted of bit-parts in movies and one-off television appearances before he was cast in the star-making role of Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad. Since then, the 35 year-old actor has attempted to carve out a career as a movie star, but so far his big-screen career has been fairly hit-or-miss.
It has become television lore that Jesse was originally supposed to be killed off during Breaking Bad's first season, but Paul's popularity and performance saw him eventually elevated to second billing behind Bryan Cranston, and the actor would go on to win three Primetime Emmys for his work, creating one of the small screen's most memorable supporting characters in the process.
His first leading role following the show's conclusion came in Need For Speed, which, despite bombing in the US turned out to be a massive hit in China, giving the young actor a genuine box office hit in his first time receiving top billing. However, it was followed by the disappointing A Long Way Down and a brief appearance in Exodus: Gods and Kings where his character gets barely any dialogue.
With four movies set for release this year alone, by the end of 2015 we'll have a much clearer indication of whether or not the actor has what it takes to carve out a successful Hollywood career.
