10 Brilliantly Self Aware Wes Craven Cameos
6. Tales From The Crapper - Himself
Bad taste B-movie merchants Troma Entertainment have made an art out of turning crudely put together hack work into something that almost feels like a real movie, but even they had trouble making something out of the mess of unusable and (for Troma) unusually expensive footage shot with former Playboy centrefold India Allen in the early 2000s (before Allen sued the studio for breach of contract, sexual harassment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress).
What we ended up with was an attempt to salvage this footage with a clumsily put together anthology, framed by a set of self-justifying scenes in which Troma boss Lloyd Kaufman as "The Crapkeeper" defends ultra low budget filmmaking against his former collaborator James Gunn (now director of Guardians Of The Galaxy), who claims to have sacrificed a child and sold his soul to gain mainstream success.
Craven pops in at a later point, donates $100 to help the movie's production costs and then walks off as members of the cast mock his previous work. It's pretty weird.
