10 British Comedians You Forgot Were In Hollywood Blockbusters

10. Jimmy Carr - Alex Rider: Stormbreaker

The Weinstein CompanyThe Weinstein CompanySo well known is Jimmy Carr for his live stand up and TV panel show appearances, you'd be forgiven to overlook the fact that he also had a brief stint on the silver screen as well. Even briefer when you consider that over half of his film credits all occurred in the same year, back in 2006. Two of these were the English comedies Confetti, and Alien Autopsy. The third was Alex Rider: Stormbreaker, which alongside Alicia Silverstone and Mickey Roarke, also featured a veritable who's who of other British actors, including Bill Nighy, Ewan McGregor, Stephen Fry, Damian Lewis and Andy Serkis. In an obvious attempt to cash in on the newly created 'orphan living with his uncle who is whisked away to a world of adventure and saving the world' genre, it even featured Hagrid himself, Robbie Coltrane, as the British Prime Minister. The first in an intended series from the Weinstein Company, this film may have had a big budget, but a poor box office performance meant that it was the only one of Anthony Horowitz's Alex Rider novels to be adapted. Whether through lack of trying or not, Carr's film career didn't fare much better either.
