10 Brothers Grimm Tales Which Disney Should Adapt

Plot: A pair of sisters invite a talking bear into their home, and soon find themselves going up against the wicked sorcerer who cursed him.

The success of the Frozen franchise has proven that one of the best ways for Disney to create an animated hit is by celebrating sisterhood. An excellent way of doing this is by adapting the small handful of fairytales about loving and supportive sisterly relationships, and Snow White and Rose Red is one of the more notable. The two siblings are kind and well-behaved, but do have distinctive personalities (Rose Red is more outgoing) that could really be expanded on in a film. In addition, there are some pretty colourful supporting characters, such as the (mostly) gentle and polite talking bear and the short, bad-tempered sorcerer, whose oversized beard is a key factor in his downfall.

The Snow White in this story does not appear to be related to the Snow White from Snow White and The Seven Dwarves (for starters, that story featured a more sympathetic portrayal of the vertically challenged) but the connection between the two was appealing enough for Disney to consider a live-action film where Rose Red was the sister of the better-known Snow White. This project was greenlit in 2016, but seems to be trapped in development hell. This gives Disney Animation the freedom to create a unique take on the Snow White and Rose Red that allows its protagonists to share a memorable adventure.
