10 Brutal Movie Torture Scenes That Made Our Toes Curl
2. Power Drill The Loved Ones
As suggested by its charming tagline, prom night can be torture, The Loved Ones is a horror-comedy about a particularly torturous prom night. Directed by Sean Byrne, this film is part of a recent crop of ultra-violent Australian horror films. The narrative follows Brent (Xavier Samuel), a teenage boy on the eve of his prom, as he is kidnapped and tortured by the girl he politely turned down, Lola (Robin McLeavy). In Brents defence, not only was he polite about it, he had already agreed to go with his girlfriend. Lola and her deranged father have been torturing Brent for some time now, and have decided its finally time to bring out their power drill in order to lobotomise Brent. The film has been building up to this scene for a significant amount of time, and when the drill is whirring away, the tension is almost unbearable. Then of course the drilling begins, accompanied by the blood-curdling sound of metal scraping over bone.
