1. Death By Stray Travolta Bullet - Pulp Fiction (1994)
Generally speaking, Pulp Fiction isn't the tamest of films - after the main villain of the movie gets raped by a corrupt policeman whilst a weird gimp watches on, you should be pretty much ready for anything. But the death of Marvin (Phil LaMarr) is still absolutely unexpected, nicely continuing the 'act of God' vein running throughout the film by... uh, blasting Marvin's brains all over it? Driving away from the scene of a routine execution, gangsters Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) and Vincent Vega (John Travolta), along with informant Marvin, are just minding their own damn business, lost in general chit-chat; then a bullet jumps out of Vincent's gun and hits Marvin square in the head. The cause? Vincent will blame the bump in the road for setting off the gun he was pointing directly at Marvin's face, but Jules will maintain that there was no motherf*cking bump. Of course, they can't ask Marvin's opinion on anything, because... well, the poor guy has no face left. Let the clean-up operation begin... Like this article?
