9. Nick Fury - Captain America: Civil War

Believe it or not, Samuel L. Jackson isn't set to appear in Captain America: Civil War - apparently. One could certainly argue that he's more necessary to this movie than, say, Avengers: Age of Ultron (where he was glimpsed living in a barn). Because this is where all the characters take sides, and Nick Fury should be an integral part of that. Despite being told by the Russo Brothers that there'd be a role for him in Civil War, Jackson himself was disturbed to later learn that he wasn't in the movie. Thing is, the whole "I'm not in the movie" approach could be a ploy; Jackson has been known to turn up unexpectedly in Marvel movies (it's kind of his thing), which means that a little cameo in Civil War is perhaps more likely than you'd think. Nick Fury, as a character, might have run his course, but he needs to be involved in the plot of this film, and - should he turn up - fans will be excited to have him. Especially if he refuses to take sides.
