10 Cancelled Movies That Would Have Made Billions

1. Superman Lives

Warner Bros.

Superman Lives clings to the sort of bombastic title that would have ensured major box office success, even though the movie - to be directed by Tim Burton as it was - sounded like the craziest thing ever proposed by human beings working in Hollywood.

In brief, Superman Lives hinged on a plot - written by Kevin Smith, would you believe? - loosely based on the "Death of Superman" comic arc. Nicolas Cage - yes, the Nicolas Cage - was considered as the lead, and the script involved a number of inherently balmy scenes that would have ensured it as the most ill-judged comic book movie ever made (giant robot spiders and sentient polar bears, oh my!).

Still, had this picture somehow come together (though it's not really surprising that it didn't), there's no doubting the fact that it would have stood tall as a blockbuster event of the highest order - good or bad, audiences would have flocked to check it out no matter what (c'mon, it was the 90s: what else was there to do?). You don't miss movies of this super deluded calibre, after all; even Batman & Robin made $238 million at the box office, and that was bloody awful.

Which of these movies would you have loved to see? Have any of your own to add? Share your thoughts down in the comments.
