10 Cancelled Movies We Wish Had Been Made

4. Poe - Sylvester Stallone

Throughout his career, while slowly deteriorating away from the early brilliance of Rocky, F.I.S.T and First Blood, Sly Stallone has continually maintained that he never desired to be an action star, while simultaneously turning out action film after action film, each of which have grown exponentially more loathsome the older the star has gotten.

Throughout all of this, Stallone has often spoken out about his desire to make a film based on the life of Edgar Allen Poe, and there were rumblings a few years ago about meetings between Stallone and Viggo Mortensen (who would have taken on the lead role).

But theese rumors surfaced years ago and in the interim there has been little to no new news about the project. It may not definitively be a canceled project, but it certainly seems at this point to be far, far on the muscleman's back burner. This is a shame because a Poe biopic would easily be the coolest and most interesting career choice Stallone has made since probably 1997's Copland.

He loves fish tacos and misses the work of Heath Ledger and Jack Lemmon on a daily basis.
