10 Cancelled Star Wars Projects That Were Devastating
6. Project Ragtag
Project Ragtag was the code name for the Visceral Games project that had been in development since 2013. The game was headed by Amy Hennig, the head writer and creative director for the Uncharted franchise, and was said to have been in the style of the the action-adventure series.
At E3 2016, Visceral presented a demo for the game, which received a general positive reception, though saw some criticism over its lacking gameplay. Wanting to ensure the game delivered, EA brought on a second studio to work on the project, EA Vancouver. However, as time went on, it became increasingly evident that EA wanted to replace Visceral with Vancouver, and in October 2017, Visceral Games was shut down, with Ragtag being cancelled. Vancouver were tasked to retool the assets of Ragtag into a multiplayer shooter, though this too was cancelled in 2019.
In November 2017, EA would bash singleplayer games, leaving a bad taste in players' mouths. EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said: "As we kept reviewing the game [Ragtag] it continued to look like a much more linear game [which] people don't like as much today as they did 5 years ago or 10 years ago." Even so, with the wide success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, this could nudge EA into focusing more on singleplayer Star Wars games, like Ragtag.
