10 Casting Decisions Fanboys Rallied Against (But Ended Up Adoring)

Hugh Jackman Wolverine

You were probably too busy to realise or whatever, but the other day they announced which lucky actor would get to play Batman in Zack Snyder's upcoming superhero battle movie sequel extravaganza, the tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman. No biggie. Or, uh, yes biggie, actually. Major biggie, actually, because - in an unexpected twist - Warner Bros. decided that Ben Affleck - star of Daredevil and Gigli but also a good director now - should replace Christian Bale in the role that dooms him to appear on various lists ranking his portrayal of Bruce Wayne against all the rest for eternity, which people have already decided will suck, by the way, based on, well, things. In a bizarre instance of fanboy rage, a whopping 50,000 Batman-enjoyers recently signed a petition to try and get Warner Bros. to fire Ben Affleck before he was even given a chance, citing reasons such as "Daredevil" and "Daredevil," and also the fact that "he's Ben Affleck!" as to why he doesn't deserve the role. Does all this sound a little familiar, though? Of course it does, because it happens all the time, whenever somebody unexpected nabs an iconic part. Don't believe me? Here's 10 examples of such times: fanboys going crazy about casting decisions, only to end up totally eating their words later on, because something something human beings...

All-round pop culture obsessive.
