It's finally happening. Fans of The Dark Tower series of novels got the news they thought they would never hear - confirmed casting announcements for the Gunslinger Roland Deschain and his nemisis, The Man In The Black. Matthew McConaughey will be The Man In The Back who flees across the desert, and Idris Elba the Gunslinger who follows. It's thrilling news for fans, many of whom thought they would never see Stephen King's epic fantasy saga on the big screen. The adaptation of the much-loved novels series has taken a longer road to get here than Roland Deschain's journey to the titular building itself. The Dark tower has spent close to a decade in development with numerous directors, producers and potential leads coming and going. Now, though, there's a confirmed director, Nikolaj Arcel, a release date, 13 January 2017, and two confirmed lead actors of great pedigree. It's time to start getting excited Now that the wheels are turning on the production, many fans will start thinking about what characters from the sprawling epic we need to see on screen, and who could play them. Casting has got off to a brilliant start. Elba will make an excellent Roland and McConaughey has long been a favourite for his role with fans. But there are plenty more vital roles left to fill. Who else could make up a dream cast in Mid-World?
