10 Casting Decisions The Dark Tower Film Must Get Right

10. Jake Chambers

Young Jake Chambers is Roland's first companion, appearing in the instigating novel, The Gunslinger. After the announcements for the casting of Roland and his nemesis, it would be logical for Jake to be the next casting announcement to drop; he is a vital character, with his eventual fate forever changing Roland. Chambers is 12 in The Gunslinger, and his youth is of relative importance, but it would be a surprise if someone actually that young was cast. It's always difficult to cast an important role for a character so young - get it wrong and the whole thing could fall flat. Ideal Casting: Tye Sheridan Sheridan has already worked alongside McConaughey in Mud, and his profile is soon to skyrocket with his role as Cyclops in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. Sheridan has the chops to pull of the combination of tough-yet-vulnerable, and it would be a coup if he could be persuaded to join the cast. Back Up Casting: Asa Butterfield The young English actor already has some big roles in his CV, having played the lead in The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, Hugo and Ender's Game. He would be another great choice, but with three films in his schedule already for 2016, it might be a logistical nightmare to get him to commit to several Dark Tower films.
