10 CGI Moments In The MCU We All Missed

7. Cap’s Shield – Captain America: The First Avenger

Captain America's shield isn't just a weapon. It's geometrically flawless. It's a symbol of the American dream. It's perfect for offensive and defensive combat. It's indestructible... usually.

Since it's the most iconic weapon in Marvel, Marvel Studios knew they had to nail, not just how this armament looks but how it moves. Despite the fact the shield is supposed to be metal, the film crew knew the prop wouldn't look right in certain shots, encouraging them to use four different shields - fibreglass, metal, rubber, and of course, digital.

Because a disc-shaped tool cannot move the way Cap's star-spangled shield is supposed to, all shots of the lethal frisbee being flung are CGIed. So, every time you see Chris Evans hurling his weapon, he's actually throwing nothing. This means that some of the coolest shots in the entire MCU were made possible... through mime.

Now, when the shield is zipping around rooms and bouncing off baddies, viewers would assume it wasn't legit, no matter how authentic it seemed. But there are times where the shield is CGIed, even when it's not in action. In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the blood-stained shield that John Walker holds after he kills a Flagsmasher is digital, despite looking like the real deal.
