10 CGI Moments In The MCU We All Missed

Thor: The Dark World may not be anybody's favourite Marvel movie, but that doesn't mean the disappointing sequel is not without merit. With Game of Thrones director, Alan Taylor, at the helm, it was no surprise the battle sequences were epic in scale and gloriously creative.

But one battle that isn't appreciated enough occurs in the prologue. In this scene, we see an ancient war between The Dark Elves and the Asgardians.

Because this fight looks so well-choreographed, you would never consider how many of the characters are digital. Apart from Malekith, Kurse, and Bor, every single person in this brawl is computer-generated.

Although many people believe filmmakers' over-reliance on CGI stems from laziness, it was utilised for this sequence out of necessity. Because the characters' costumes restricted the actors' movements, the brawl would've come across as staggered and stiff if it was done the old fashioned way. (Ironically, doing it for real would've made it look unrealistic.) Because the Dark Elves and Asgardians are otherworldly warriors, the director wanted to make them fight with inhuman grace and poise and so, decided CGI was the best avenue.
