10 CGI Movie Moments NOBODY Noticed
4. Pizza Hut Replaces Taco Bell - Demolition Man
Here's a really bizarre and fascinating example of CGI from the cult classic 1993 action flick Demolition Man.
The script for the Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes-starring film had a gag about Taco Bell being the only surviving restaurant chain after the "franchise wars," and so a futuristic version of Taco Bell is prominently featured on-screen in one key sequence.
However, because Taco Bell wasn't well known outside of North America in the 1990s, the decision was made to replace Taco Bell with Pizza Hut - a chain also owned by PepsiCo at the time - for international versions of the film.
This not only required certain lines of dialogue to be re-recorded, but basic CGI had to be employed to superimpose a Pizza Hut logo where the Taco Bell logo otherwise would be.
It's a seamless enough fix that nobody had any idea about it upon release, though with the rise of streaming and the various versions of films that get circulated to streaming services, it's become far more common for audiences to see a version of the movie with a different restaurant.
