7. Nick Fury
Nick Fury is one of the most important ancillary characters in the MCU, as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Agent tasked with spearheading the Avengers Initiative. He found a nifty way to make the most out of Agent Coulson's (apparent) death, by helping it bring the squabbling heroes together in a common cause, to bring down Loki and the Chitauri. Though we know that Fury will have a major role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it also goes to follow that he will be instrumental in bringing The Avengers back together for round two. Could Joss kill off Nick Fury? It's possible, though not terribly likely given the leadership role the character generally takes, rather than being on the front-line of the action (unless that action is taking place on the Helicarrier, anyway). Plus, it's Samuel L. Jackson, arguably the most likable actor in the franchise (it's neck and neck between him and RDJ), and as one of the few constants throughout the MCU, he needs to be kept alive - Marvel Studios know this.
