The entire thing, from start to finish, was a disaster. Ryan Reynolds finally got his wish of playing a superhero and learned, straight away, that the film wouldn't actually be a cherished adaptation of the comic book source material, but a hasty cash grab designed to get in on success of Nolan's recent Batman films and also take a slice of the pie from Marvel's burgeoning MCU.

The result was an unmitigated mess that has made one of DC's most iconic characters unusable for an entire generation. It ruled Jordan and the entire Green Lantern Corps out of any possible mention in the Justice League project, and also accounted for approx 1/3rd of all the Jokes in Reynold's performances as Deadpool.

If DC ever finds a magic lamp and are granted one wish, it won't be for money, it won't be for power, it will be to strike this movie from existence and make it again from scratch. Comfortably one of the richest wells of comic book lore, and they made such a stinker out of it that they're still afraid to go near nearly 10 years later.
