10 Characters The DCEU Wishes It Could've Introduced Differently

5. Lex Luthor

Honestly, I actually rate the decision to cast Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and getting him to play it as some sort of twitchy mad scientist who simultaneously fancies himself as a) a messiah and b) a total shagger. It's a decision that I would have made, had DC or Warner Bros. put me in charge of casting for their grand Extended Universe project.

Thing is though, I've never written or cast for a movie in my entire life, and thus have precisely no idea what it is I'm doing. Thus any decisions I make are, in all likelihood, probably the wrong ones. Casting Jesse Eisenberg as mad scientist/total shagger Lex Luthor was once such example.

In almost all the discourse surrounding Dawn of Justice, one constant remained that Eisenberg's portrayal of Superman's greatest nemesis was so, so far wrong. He was neither intimidating nor overly threatening, more slapstick than sinister, the biggest clown in a rogue's gallery that includes The Joker. If DC could, they'd burn this performance from living memory so that it doesn't taint any future portrayals.

Still though, I liked it.
