10 Characters The MCU Wishes It Could've Introduced Differently

How Marvel finally managed to introduce Spider-Man to the MCU was, I'll just get this out of the way early, perfect. Given the problems over the licensing, the endless negotiations with Sony, and where the overall story was at the time, they absolutely nailed the introduction. Here was a young boy, new to his powers and going unnoticed, suddenly thrust into a much bigger adventure.

But this introduction is only perfect in the context of the licensing issues. Marvel would never, in a million years, have wanted Spider-Man to be a supporting character in an Avengers film before getting his own shoe-horned introduction some 8 years after the franchise started. They'd have wanted him to be front and centre from the very start being, as he is, their most bankable box office commodity. Iron Man seemed like a risk in 2008, Captain America seemed like a gamble in 2011, Thor seemed like an absurd choice that same year, if they'd had Spider-Man, they'd had led with him.

It's all worked out for the best (current status with Sony pending) and Tom Holland's role in the MCU has been one of the highlights of the entire thing, but if Marvel had a clean slate to work with when planning all of this out you can bet they'd have written his role very, very differently.
