10 Characters Who MUST Appear In Upcoming Movie Sequels

Ripley is a bit of an iffy one, for a few reasons. Firstly, the sequel to Alien: Covenant hasn’t been confirmed, and unlike other unconfirmed movies here, doesn’t have the box office numbers to make it a sure thing.

However, the principal cast and director Ridley Scott have expressed interest, so there’s a decent chance it could materialise at some point. It might have a smaller budget than is ideal, but Scott is a famously thrifty director and would certainly manage with these restrictions.

Prometheus and Alien: Covenant aren’t particularly connected to the 1979 flick, but that could all change. The third film - if it ever gets made - will apparently bring the series full circle, linking up with Alien and completing the series once and for good. If that happens, franchise icon Ripley surely needs to appear in some way to usher the prequels and originals together.

That brings another issue though, as Sigourney Weaver is now too old to reprise the role. Whoever steps into her shoes to replicate one of sci-fi’s most legendary performances would certainly feel the pressure; just ask Alden Ehrenreich.

Still, it will feel like a massive missed opportunity if they make Ripley sit this one out.
